Two friends who have shared lottery tickets for years are $500,000 richer each after splitting a $1 million Lotto 6/49 jackpot from the October 24, 2026 draw.

Lauraine Fortin Gingras and Patricia Contré Voyer met at work in Abitibi-Témiscamingue. Contré Voyer later moved to the Laurentides, and the two no longer live near each other, but they kept buying tickets together.

Fortin Gingras checked the winning ticket on the Loto-Québec app. "I saw the amount appear… I kept counting the zeros!" she said. She then called her friend to share the news.

Fortin Gingras is headed to Scotland with her spouse, and Contré Voyer plans to fly to Switzerland to visit her daughter.

Loto-Québec has not yet announced when the prize will be paid, or whether as a lump sum or an annuity.
