Three killed, two injured in multi-vehicle crash near Kawartha Lakes

Three people died and two were injured in a multi-vehicle collision Saturday evening near Omemee in Kawartha Lakes.
Emergency crews responded to the intersection of Highway 7 and New Heights Road around early evening, where a car had collided with four motorcycles. An 18-year-old from Peterborough who was driving the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two motorcyclists — a 72-year-old man from Dunchurch and a 65-year-old man from Barrie — were also killed in the crash. Two other motorcyclists, both in their 30s from Sudbury, were injured. One was treated at the scene and released; the other was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre for further treatment.
Provincial police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the collision.
