Manuela Goya, vice-president of destination development, public affairs and industry at Tourisme Montréal, will run as a Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ) candidate in the riding of Brome-Missisquoi during the provincial election this fall.
Goya, who has held her position at Tourisme Montréal since 2019, is seeking to succeed Isabelle Charest, the CAQ MNA first elected in 2018. Charest announced in April that she will leave active political life at the end of her current mandate.
Before joining Tourisme Montréal, Goya served as an advisor to the Ministries of Finance and Economic Development and worked with the Montreal Chamber of Commerce on files concerning the metropolitan area. She has also worked for Oxfam Québec and served on the boards of several cultural institutions, including the Montreal Jazz Festival and the Museum of Contemporary Art.
Originally from Romania, Goya has lived in the Brome-Missisquoi region for 10 years. She has identified the protection of Quebec identity and the French language as her main political priorities, framing these within an economic development framework.
