Three systems are expected to bring heavy rain and wind to Metro Vancouver starting Wednesday, Nov. 4, according to Environment Canada meteorologist Steve Boily.

Wednesday overnight into Thursday should bring 10 to 15 millimetres of rain. Friday's storm is forecast to be the wettest, with 25 to 30 mm. Another system is expected Saturday.

The weather is being driven by a low pressure system sitting over the northeast Pacific, south of Alaska, that is mostly affecting the northwest coast of B.C. Boily says the fronts are defined more by the shift in wind and enhanced precipitation than by a drop in temperature.

Winds are forecast at 40 km/h, gusting to 60 km/h, which Boily says is likely below warning criteria. Snow levels are near 2,000 metres now but are expected to fall ahead of the systems, with possible snow on the North Shore mountains through the week.
