Ukrainian drone attacks killed one person in Russia's southwestern Oryol region and struck a fuel storage facility Sunday, continuing Kyiv's campaign against Moscow's military and energy targets deep inside Russian territory.

Oryol regional Gov. Andrei Klychkov said the overnight drone strike on a residential building in the regional capital killed one person and wounded nine others.

A separate drone attack hit fuel storage facilities in Russia's Yaroslavl region, around 700 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, sparking fires. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the strike had targeted "an oil facility that was important for the reserve of the aggressor state."

Ukraine has intensified attacks on Russia's oil and gas infrastructure in recent months, arguing the energy sector directly funds Moscow's more than four-year invasion.

Meanwhile, Britain announced it has detained the Smyrtos, a tanker suspected of being part of Russia's "shadow fleet" — hundreds of ships believed to be evading international sanctions on Moscow's war against Ukraine. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the operation delivered "yet another blow to Russia."
