Fourteen degrees and mostly clear—a proper June Tuesday.
Mild morning, long daylight ahead, and a couple of things worth knowing about town.
It's a pleasant one out there this morning. Fourteen degrees, mostly cloudy, and you've got until 9:53 p.m. to get outside if you feel like it—that's over sixteen and a half hours of daylight. The UV's sitting at 7 (high), so if you're heading out for lunch or an afternoon walk, sunscreen's a smart call. Nothing too wild weather-wise, which means the commute should move the way it normally does.
A couple of things landing in Calgary this week worth a moment. The old Olympic ski jump at Canada Olympic Park just became our 1,000th designated heritage site—a solid milestone for the city. And if you've been following the Flames, Alvin Libin, one of the franchise's co-owners, passed away over the weekend at 95. He was woven into this city's hockey fabric for decades.
On a tougher note, there's been a pattern of vehicle damage tied to extortion targeting members of the South Asian community. Worth keeping an eye on your own car and staying aware of what's happening in your neighbourhood.
If you're thinking about dinner, Pho Pham's opened a third spot in Chinatown, which is good news if you're craving a bowl. Over on Centre Street, Scarpetta's taking over the space where Lina's Trattoria used to be. And if you're in the mood for something simpler, A&W's bringing back root beer floats for the season—pure summer nostalgia.
Tonight, if you're looking for something to do, Come From Away is playing at Theatre Calgary in the Max Bell Centre at 7:30. It's Broadway on a Tuesday night, which doesn't happen every week—solid option if you want to get out and catch some live theatre. The sunset's late enough that you could grab an early dinner beforehand and still have plenty of light on your way home.
It's a solid day to be in Cowtown. Get out for a bit if you can.
