Saturday's got theatre, patios, and a solid 16 hours of daylight.

Morning, friend. It's Saturday and you've got time to actually do something. We're sitting at 7°C with partly cloudy skies, so layer up if you're heading out — the UV's running hot at 7.0, which means you'll burn faster than you think even on a cool day like this. The real gift today is daylight: you've got sunset at 9:52 PM, so there's nearly 16 and a half hours to play with. Plan accordingly.

Road-wise, nothing's jumping out as a major headache for Saturday driving. Keep an eye on the foothills if you're heading that way — conditions and cameras are live if you want to check before you go.

On the local front, there's some interesting stuff percolating. AI cameras are now catching wildfires early near Kananaskis, which is genuinely good news if you're thinking about heading up that way. On a heavier note, the city's dealing with a housing crunch: 60,000-plus parcels near transit stations are facing downzoning with no real replacement plan in place yet. Worth paying attention to. And if you've been following the Stampede rodeo scene, screwworm bans are forcing competitors to scramble for new horses — that's a real wrinkle for folks who depend on that circuit.

If you're thinking food, there's some good openings and updates worth knowing. Cactus Club's brought back their summer menu with Frosé and a $9 smash burger if you want something casual. Romero Distilling just opened a cocktail lounge with Prohibition-era rum drinks, which sounds like a fun vibe. Felina's cocktail bar is inside Tailgunner Brewing now if you're into that neighbourhood. And if you're willing to head to Canmore, Grizzly Paw Brewing is marking 30 years as the original brewpub — that's worth the drive if you've got the time.

For tonight, you've got options depending on your mood. Come From Away is playing matinees at both Theatre Calgary and The Palace if you want something uplifting and live. If you're leaning into the evening scene, there's Deric Cahill doing stand-up at The Laugh Shop at 6:30 PM, Napalm Death at The Palace Theatre at the same time if you want hard rock, or Maangas at Pawn Shop Live at 5:00 PM. Modern Love's also launching their patio at 5:00 PM if you want something low-key and social. With nearly 10 PM sunset, you can do outdoor drinks and not freeze.

Get outside, catch some daylight, and enjoy the fact that it's Saturday. See you around.
