Update — August 01, 2026: A man has been charged in connection with the officer-involved shooting that occurred on 30 July in the 1000 block of Bridlemeadows Manor S.W. Danny Martin, 36, faces four counts of assault of a peace officer with a weapon, one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and four counts of failure to comply with conditions of a release order. The suspect, who was transported to hospital in critical condition, has since been upgraded to stable condition.

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) is investigating after a Calgary police officer fired a weapon during a confrontation Thursday morning in Bridlewood in southwest Calgary.

Police responded to a call of a disturbance and a man with a weapon at the 1000 block of Bridlemeadows Manor S.W. at roughly 1 a.m. When officers arrived, the man had already entered a residence. After officers engaged with him and attempted to take him into custody, he remained inside for roughly two hours.

When the man came outside the residence around 3 a.m., a confrontation occurred that resulted in one officer firing their weapon. The suspect was taken to hospital in critical condition.

ASIRT was called and began the investigation. No other details are available at this time, including the suspect's current condition, the nature of the original disturbance call, or what weapon was involved.
