Friday kicks off mild—Edmonton, June 5.

Good morning. It's Friday and you're looking at 9°C—mild enough to move without a heavy coat, but grab a layer because the sun's still got some edge to it (UV's at 5.0, so sunscreen if you're out for a stretch). Light holds till nearly 10 PM, so the evening's yours to stretch into. Dress smart and you're golden.

A couple of things moving in the city this week. Khazana, which has been Edmonton's top-rated Indian spot, is closing—if it's on your list, now's the time if you've been meaning to go. On the flip side, Brio Bakery just opened a second location out in Mill Creek as the founders are stepping back a bit, so there's fresh energy there if you're after good bread and pastry. And Separatism is already starting to chill investment in Edmonton, according to the Chamber—worth paying attention to if you care about where the city's headed.

On the brighter notes: the Grey Nuns launched a music therapy program in their NICU, which is a real kindness for families in tough spots. And you've probably seen it already, but Alberta's acro dancers and dogs landed a golden buzzer on America's Got Talent—E-town showing up.

For dinner, you've got options. If you want to sit outside and catch the long evening, a patio's your play at 9°C. The weather's holding for it. There's talk of World Cup watch parties at bars around the city if you're keen to catch a match with your people, so check ahead on which spots are set up for it.

For live music tonight, you've got two solid paths. The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra is playing at the Winspear Centre at 7:30 PM if you want something orchestral and seated—real Friday-night comfort. Or Carolyn Dawn Johnson's at Casino Yellowhead at 8 if you want something more intimate and live. Pick your scene and ease into the weekend properly.

Get out there and make it a good one.
