Mild Wednesday, live music tonight, and baseball at Myshak
Eleven degrees, long daylight, and your pick of indie pop or ball game after work.
Morning. We're sitting at 11 with a UV of 4, so you won't need the heavy jacket but sunscreen's still worth it if you're outside long. Sun doesn't drop until 10:06 tonight, which means plenty of light to move around on — good day to get things done.
Nothing major blocking the commute this morning, so you're clear to roll.
Couple things worth knowing as the week moves along. South Edmonton residents are pushing back hard on a $10 million bus-only lane plan — if you're down that way, it's worth tuning into what's being said. On the home insurance front, if you've been wondering why your premiums keep climbing, the numbers are rough: they're up 392 percent over the last twenty years across the province. That hits different when you're renewing.
If you're thinking lunch or dinner, there's some solid new stuff worth trying. A South Indian spot just opened up with 35 dosa varieties on the menu — that's the kind of opening that changes your rotation. Up on Whyte, five Japanese restaurants just landed at Station Park, so if you've been craving that scene, there's options. Fair warning though: Kommune Snack Bar downtown is closing up — rising costs caught up with them. Cactus Club's running their summer menu now if you want to swing by, Frosé and $9 smash burgers back on.
Tonight's the time to get out if you're in the mood. Whitehorse is playing Festival Place at 7:30 with solid indie pop — if that's your lane, it's a Wednesday night well spent. Or pivot to the ballpark: the Energy City Cactus Rats are home at Myshak Metro at 6:35 against Okotoks. Baseball weather's good, and there's still plenty of light. If you're more alt-rock, B.A. Johnston's at The Buckingham at 8:00 with Bad Dream House and Paint Drying.
If you're heading out to the Jube this morning, the U of A's running Spring Convocation at 10:00 and again at 3:00 — campus will be busy.
Get outside if you can. It's a good day for it.
Catch you around.
