Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is set to play his 1,038th game with the Oilers Tuesday in New Jersey against the Devils, which would pass Kevin Lowe's 1,037 for the most games in franchise history.

Lowe played his 1,037 games for Edmonton between 1979 and 1998, and the two are linked by more than the record. Lowe was the Oilers' first NHL draft pick and won five Stanley Cups with the club before finishing with the Rangers. Nugent-Hopkins debuted Oct. 9, 2011, against Pittsburgh, scoring the overtime winner at Rexall Place at age 18. He is now the last player still on that debut roster.

"Playing that many games for one organization says tons about his talent, consistency and, of course, his character," Lowe said. Nugent-Hopkins said, "I've been very fortunate to have been able to stick around through some hard years." Over those 15 seasons he has played with about 250 different Oilers and under 10 head coaches.
