Canadians eligible for the GST rebate will start seeing a one-time top-up payment arrive in their bank accounts starting Friday, June 5. Those who qualified for the January payment of the quarterly rebate can expect the boost.

The federal government is offering an additional 50 per cent on top of the total annual amount Canadians received from the GST credit from July 2025 to June 2026. For example, if your GST/HST credit was $400 for that period, the one-time payment will be $200.

To qualify, you must be a Canadian resident for tax purposes, be at least 19 years old, and have filed your 2024 tax return. The income cutoff varies depending on your family status and whether you have children. For single people with no kids, the maximum adjusted net income is $56,181 or less.

Those with direct deposit set up can expect the payment starting June 5. If you don't have direct deposit, a cheque will be mailed to you. The government estimates more than 12 million Canadians receive the GST rebate. Beginning in July, the quarterly rebate will increase by 25 per cent for the next five years.
