Sunday's looking partly cloudy with teeth—Montreal, May 31

Good morning. You're waking to 18°C and partly cloudy skies, which is honestly fine for a Sunday—grab a light layer if you're heading out early, and keep an eye on that severe thunderstorm watch. Environment Canada has the alert up, so if you're planning to be outside this afternoon or evening, give yourself a heads-up. The UV's sitting at 5.0, which is high, so sunscreen if you're staying in the sun. Light holds till 8:35 PM, so you've got a full day ahead.

On the métro side, there's some reconstruction work happening—a dalle réfection and pont d'étagement work are ongoing, so just double-check your usual routes if you're heading downtown or across the city. Nothing catastrophic reported this morning, but worth a quick mental note.

Locally, a few things worth knowing: Claude Lemieux's brain is being donated to CTE research, a conversation that's been sitting heavy in the city this week. On a lighter note, Asian Heritage Month is wrapping up today, and there's been a real reckoning about what belonging means here—worth paying attention to if that's something close to you. And if you've been following the news on youth centres, Quebec's cut full-body searches by 56 percent, which signals a shift in how the province is handling young people in custody.

For lunch, the weather's not locking you inside, so if you want to sit outside, there's time. We've got some solid restaurant moves worth booking this spring, and if you're in the mood for something that feels like a little Rome escape right here in Montreal, there's an Italian spot that's landing hard. The Canadian burger that made the world's best list is also worth tracking down if you haven't yet.

Tonight's where it gets interesting. The Habs are facing the Hurricanes in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals—home game—at Centre Bell, 3:30 AM. (Yeah, that's early, which means fans are either up late or up early, so pick your poison.) If hockey's not your scene, Cirque du Soleil's Echo is running at the Old Port—1:30 PM matinee or 5:00 PM evening show, depending on how your day shakes out. There's also Héneault chante Reno at the Casino cabaret at 4:00 PM if you want something smaller and live. Later, if you're 18+, Portrayal of Guilt with Halloween is at La Sotterenea at 7:00 PM, and there's a school performance at Théâtre Manuvie at 7:00 PM if you're catching something closer to home.

Storm watch notwithstanding, you've got room to move today. Keep the umbrella close, stay warm, and catch the light while it's here.
