Sunday rain means shows and roasted chicken, not the Mountain
Light rain all day, but the indoor scene is loaded—Cirque, musicals, Pink Floyd. Grab dinner first.
It's 18°C and wet this morning, so pack an umbrella if you're heading anywhere. The rain stays light all day, which is fine—it's Sunday, you weren't planning to hike the Mountain anyway. UV's low at 3.0, so no sunscreen panic. Sun dips at 8:44 PM, so you've got a solid 15 hours of daylight to work with, but the rain means most of it's going to feel like an excuse to stay warm and dry indoors.
That's actually perfect timing because tonight is stacked. Cirque du Soleil's "Echo" is running both at Jacques Cartier Pier and under the big top in the Old Port—matinees at 1:30 PM if you want to catch the acrobatics earlier, or evenings at 5:00 PM. If you're in a different mood, "Moulin Rouge!" is at Place des Arts with a matinee at 1:00 PM and evening at 6:30 PM. And if you're feeling trippy, there's a Pink Floyd laser show—"Dark Side of the Moon"—at Le Dome starting at 5:30 PM. Pick your vibe and book it, because the rain's not budging.
Before you head out, fuel up. There's been some solid coverage lately of Montreal rotisseries and pizza spots worth the trip, plus Italian restaurants if you're leaning that way. It's one of those Sundays where a good roasted chicken and frites makes sense—warm, uncomplicated, fills you before a show.
On the harder side of things: the police service has 16 officers under investigation for racist conduct, and there was a fatal apartment fire in St-Michel on Saturday morning that claimed two lives. Down in Verdun, a swimmer went missing at the beach; a body was recovered. In Longueuil, police are still looking for help identifying a mail theft suspect. Nothing that changes your day directly, but the kind of stuff worth knowing about the city.
There's also a new beer bath and hops sauna open near Place-des-Arts if that's your scene—weird flex for a rainy Sunday, but there you go.
So: grab an umbrella, pick your show, eat well, and stay dry. The rain's here for the day, but you're covered.
