Mobility Montréal has announced 42 major construction projects planned for fall 2026 across the metropolitan area, including 4 new sites. The work is necessary to maintain and upgrade transportation infrastructure but will inevitably impact travel.

Of the 52 projects announced last spring, 14 have already been completed, including repairs to Highway 640 between Sainte-Marthe-sur-le-Lac and Blainville, infrastructure work on Saint-Denis Street in the CHUM sector, and infrastructure work on Airport Road in Longueuil.

Obstructions will be staggered throughout the season rather than concentrated, with several works scheduled for nights and weekends when traffic is lighter. Partners are coordinating to avoid closing multiple strategic roads simultaneously.

Key areas to watch include the southwest of the Island, where work is planned on the Victoria Bridge and its approaches, plus the A-10 (Bonaventure) and occasional night closures on Highway 136. Downtown Montreal has ongoing municipal construction including sewer rehabilitation on Guy Street and work near the Berri-UQAM metro station. The centre and east of the Island will see continuation of major Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel repairs, blue line metro extension work, and underpass repair on Papineau Street between Rosemont Boulevard and Saint-Grégoire Street.

The fall will also be marked by the UCI Road World Championships Montreal 2026 in September, requiring major closures including the complete closure of Highway 10 (Bonaventure) toward downtown on September 19, 20, 21, and 22 between 6:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., and closures of the Samuel De Champlain Bridge toward Montreal on the morning of September 26 and 27. Free park-and-ride lots and shuttles will operate from the Chevrier parking lot in Brossard during competition days.
