Ottawa police officer charged with assault in Oakville

An Ottawa police officer has been charged with assault following an off-duty incident in Oakville on June 12. Staff Sgt. Walt Lushman was released on an undertaking with conditions after the alleged dispute, which took place just before 10:30 p.m. and was related to a crash between two vehicles.

Ottawa Police's Professional Standards Unit has launched an investigation into the matter. Lushman will have no public-facing duties while the investigation continues.
