Mostly cloudy, plenty of daylight—make the most of it

Morning—it's 14°C out there, mostly cloudy, and you've got nearly 16 hours of daylight to work with. The sun won't set until 8:54 PM, so plan accordingly if you're thinking of an evening on the patio or a walk later. UV's running high at 7, so sunscreen's worth grabbing if you're spending real time outside.

Commute-wise, keep an eye out on the 417—there was a serious collision on Hawthorne Road yesterday that left someone in critical condition, so just stay sharp and give yourself a bit extra time if that's your route. Otherwise, roads should be moving fine.

On the local front: there's some noise around city spending right now. Saravanamuttoo's been pushing the idea of more transparency on where our tax dollars are actually going, which is worth paying attention to if you care about how the capital's money flows. Also worth knowing—Hampton Park's old-growth forest is becoming a real symbol of what urban climate resilience can look like. It's one of those quiet stories that matters more than it first sounds.

If you're thinking lunch, Cactus Club just dropped a $9 smash burger for summer, and if pizza's calling, Linden Pizza on Beechwood is doing exceptionally thin, crisp crusts that are worth the trip. You can also eat well for under twenty bucks in a bunch of spots around town if you're watching it.

Tonite, if you're free after work, you've got options. Paper Moon Theatre's doing Rock of Ages at the Hard Rock Casino at 6 PM if you want something fun and loud. Or if you're in a classical mood and have time to settle in, the National Arts Centre Orchestra is running Shelley, Grimaud & Gershwin: Stravinsky's The Firebird at 8 PM—proper evening out. The weather's decent enough for an outdoor drink beforehand if you're heading that way.

Catch you on the other side.
