The National Arts Centre is hosting SoulRhythms, a free dance workshop that takes participants on a journey through African and Caribbean movement and folklore-based dance.
The 45-minute class, designed for all levels, blends traditional and modern Afro-Caribbean movement under the guidance of facilitator Suzan Richards. "Let your soul shine as we travel throughout Africa and the Caribbean on an exciting journey through movement and dance," the description reads. The workshop promises to connect mind, body, and spirit to what organizers describe as "infectious celebratory rhythms."
The session runs Monday, June 22, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. EDT at Peter A. Herrndorf Place, located at 1 Elgin Street in downtown Ottawa. No tickets are required for entry—the class is completely free.
The event is recommended for ages 7 and up. It's bilingual and lasts approximately one hour, with no intermission. SoulRhythms is part of the NAC's broader programming and represents the kind of accessible cultural offering the centre regularly provides to Ottawa's arts community.
