Albertans who apply for the $100 energy rebate will see the money land in their bank accounts within two weeks of applying, according to Finance Minister Jason Nixon's office.

The payments take that timeframe as the province verifies application information and processes transfers. Premier Danielle Smith has said her government is doling out the rebate instead of reducing the tax on gasoline at the pumps, arguing that gas tax cuts don't always get passed on to consumers.

Nearly 3.4 million Albertans are eligible: those 18 or older, who have filed a 2025 tax return and have a household income of $225,000 or less. For the rebate, a household is defined as a single individual or two individuals who are married or in a common-law relationship.

The application portal launches July 1 and will remain open until September 30.
