This weekend brings multiple celebrations to downtown Toronto as the summer solstice arrives, with free and ticketed events across the city.
Friday, June 19
DESIFEST presented by TD launches a two-day celebration at Sankofa Square, marking 20 years of South Asian music, culture, and community. The free event begins at 5 p.m. and features live shows, multiple DJs, and food vendors.
The Toronto Jazz Festival also opens Friday, with a mix of free and ticketed concerts running for 10 days. Venues include intimate spots like The Rex Hotel and Jazz Bistro, alongside larger stages such as Koerner Hall and the Danforth Music Hall, showcasing local jazz musicians.
AGO Friday Night: Drag Night launches at 6 p.m. at the Art Gallery of Ontario, co-hosted by Toronto drag queens Messy Margaret and Madee Lovegood. The evening (free with AGO general admission) features four rounds of bingo, drag performances, prizes, and a cash bar.

CAMH Engage's Paddles for Progress unfolds at Fairgrounds Public Racket Club with Pickleball and Padel tournaments benefiting the CAMH Foundation. The day includes food from local vendors and a silent auction, continuing into the evening at The Porch Toronto.
The free Indigenous Arts Festival at Biidaasige Park celebrates Indigenous Peoples Month with live music and food, recognizing the First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples of Turtle Island.
