Update — August 01, 2026: Police have charged Yang Fu Luo, 51, of Toronto with two counts of sexual assault and two counts of sexual interference following allegations that he sexually assaulted a minor during Chinese language tutoring sessions between January 2026 and July 2026. York Region police say there may be additional victims and are continuing to investigate.
A 58-year-old registered nurse practitioner who works as a nursing instructor has been charged with sexually assaulting a nursing student in Markham, York Regional Police said Friday.
The victim contacted police in July after being sexually assaulted by their nursing instructor. According to the investigation, the assault occurred after the victim and the suspect attended home visits for home care training. Police say the victim was driven to a "secluded location" where they were allegedly touched for a sexual purpose.
The accused works as a home care nurse and serves as a nurse preceptor—a role that involves teaching and evaluating student nurses. Investigators said they believe there may be additional victims and are encouraging anyone with information to contact them.
The case mirrors recent charges in the region involving professionals in positions of authority. In June, a Markham psychologist was charged following allegations of sexual assault during an appointment, and a Newmarket massage therapist faced similar charges.
