Update — August 01, 2026: Heavy rainfall is now expected to move into Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area late Saturday and continue into Sunday, with some areas potentially receiving as much as 50 millimetres of rain according to a special weather statement issued by Environment Canada. Showers and thunderstorms are forecast to repeatedly cycle through the region, with water likely to pool on roads and in low-lying areas and visibility potentially dropping suddenly during heavy downpours.

Toronto's brief reprieve from wildfire smoke ends Tuesday as rain and thunderstorms move in. Environment Canada is forecasting a 70 per cent chance of rain beginning around midday Tuesday, with thunderstorms possible through the morning and afternoon.

Some storms could bring heavy downpours, gusty winds, and reduced visibility. Most areas of the GTA will receive 5 to 10 millimetres of rain, though some locations could see more than 15 millimetres in heavier cells. The daytime high will reach about 24 C, but humidity will make it feel closer to 32 C, with southwest winds strengthening during the day.

The unsettled weather is expected across much of the GTA, including Mississauga, Brampton, Oakville, Vaughan, Markham, and Pickering. Residents in those areas could see periods of rain throughout the day, with a 60 per cent chance of showers and potential for locally heavy downpours.

After Tuesday's wet spell, Wednesday will bring a mix of sun and cloud with a slight chance of lingering showers. Thursday looks to be the pick of the week, with sunny skies and a high near 24 to 26 C. Friday will be seasonable with a mix of sun and cloud and only a slight chance of a shower.
